New Delhi, Mar 1: Hours after vowing revenge for the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran has launched a fresh wave of missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and US bases across the Middle East.
Explosions were reported in several Gulf capitals, including Doha, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh, as Iranian forces carried out coordinated strikes.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) described the offensive as a direct response to joint US-Israeli airstrikes that killed Khamenei and other senior officials. Iranian state media framed the attacks as the beginning of a “historic retaliation,” while warning of further escalation.
IRGC has said that in the fifth wave of Operation True Promise, a ship carrying ammunition for American vessels was hit by four drones at the Jebel Ali anchorage and "completely disabled with damage and explosions.
"The American naval base in the Abdullah Mubarak area of Kuwait was hit by 4 ballistic missiles and 12 drones, and all the infrastructure was destroyed, and a large number of American forces were killed and injured. Also, the MST-class combat support ship, which was carrying fuel for American vessels in the Indian Ocean, was hit by Iranian Qadr 380 missiles," it said. "The IRGC Navy, along with the air force, will keep the gates of hell open to enemy units," it added.
Iran has attacked Dubai airport, among the busiest airports globally, which has been shut for operations after hostilities began. Earlier, it had struck the Palm, Dubai's famed land island, and a luxury hotel, Burj Al Arab.
Israel has declared a state of emergency, with its defense systems intercepting multiple incoming projectiles. US military installations in Bahrain and Qatar also reported attempted strikes, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.

Analysts warn that the confrontation could spiral into a prolonged war, destabilizing energy markets and threatening global security.
The US and Israel carried out coordinated airstrikes across Iran yesterday after stalled nuclear talks and claims that Iran had resumed its nuclear activities. The mission, named Operation Epic Fury, targeted several major Iranian cities, including the capital Tehran.
Following the fresh attack, US President Donald Trump warned Iran against any military action, stating that he would hit the nation with a "force that has never been seen before".
"Iran just stated that they are going to hit very hard today, harder than they have ever hit before. They better not do that, however, because if they do, we will hit them with a force never been seen before! Thank you for your attention to this matter," Trump said in a statement.
