Gold Extends Losses For Fourth Week; Silver Down Over 22% In March

Key Points

Gold prices fell for a fourth consecutive week, with 24-carat gold dropping Rs 1,032 per gram to Rs 13,565, marking a nine-session losing streak.
Mumbai, Mar 24: Gold and silver prices remained under pressure at the start of the week, with domestic bullion markets extending losses amid continued global uncertainty.

Gold Falls to Multi-Week Lows

Gold prices in India declined for a fourth consecutive week, with 24-carat gold dropping to Rs 13,565 per gram, down Rs 1,032 in a single day, according to Good Returns.

In bulk terms, 100 grams of 24 Karat gold fell to Rs 13,56,500 from Rs 14,59,700, marking a decline of Rs 1,03,200 in a day.

The metal has now fallen for nine straight sessions and is trading at its lowest level since early January.

Market sentiment remained cautious as tensions involving the United States and Iran continued to influence inflation outlook, energy prices and currency movements.

MCX Gold Trims Losses

On the derivatives front, gold futures pared some losses after Donald Trump postponed planned strikes on Iran by five days, citing “productive conversations.”

Iran denied that any talks had taken place, keeping uncertainty elevated.

Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) recovered from intraday lows but remained sharply lower.

The MCX Gold April 2, 2026 contract was trading at Rs 1,37,712 per 10 grams, down Rs 6,780 or 4.69% as of 10pm.
