Bhubaneswar, Nov 19: Content creator and political commentator Dhruv Rathee has criticised the Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, just hours after the trailer of the movie was released on Tuesday.
Although fans have loved the trailer of the spy action thriller, but as we know, choices and likings differ from person to person. And something similar came to light when Rathee shared his opinion about the trailer through a post on social media.
The spy action thriller unfolds as a raw and intense saga,
with its gripping trailer boldly showcasing scenes of torture and bloodshed
without restraint. And Rathee took aim at director Aditya
Dhar for depicting extreme violence, likening its graphic intensity to the
disturbing beheading videos once circulated by the terror outfit ISIS.

“Aditya Dhar has truly crossed a limit of cheapness in Bollywood. The extreme violence, gore and torture shown in his latest film trailer is the equivalent of watching ISIS beheadings and calling it “entertainment”,” Dhruv Rathee wrote in his post on X (formerly Twitter).
He took his criticism even further adding, “His lust for
money is so unhinged that he is willingly poisoning the minds of the young
generation, desensitizing them to gore and glorifying unimaginable torture.”

✨Calling on the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) to review the film’s portrayal of extreme violence, the content creator wrote: “This is the chance for Censor Board to show if have a bigger problem with people kissing or watching someone get skinned alive.”
The movie — Dhurandhar — assembled a strong star cast with Ranveer Singh as the lead role — an Indian spy in Pakistan. The film also features Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and R Madhavan.
Two sequences — Arjun Rampal (portraying an ISI Major) is shown brutally skinning a victim, and Akshaye Khanna (a Lahore gangster) bludgeoning a man to death with a stone — from the trailer have drawn significant attention for their graphic intensity.
Netizens, however, appear largely unfazed by the violent imagery. One viewer praised the background score, writing, “The energy, the darkness, the atmosphere… it feels like Shashwat just opened a new chapter in Indian music.”
Another urged the CBFC, saying, “To the Censor Board: Jaisa trailer me dikh raha hai ekdum waisa he theatre me bhi dikhna chahiye (We need to see it in theatre exactly how it is shown in the trailer). NO CUTS NO BLURS.”
The film is set to release in theatres on December 5.
