Ollywood / Sanjay Mishra Seeks Lord Jagannath’s Blessings in Puri ahead of Odia Film Debut

Mumbai, Aug 25: Veteran actor Sanjay Mishra marked the beginning of his Odia cinema journey with a spiritual stop at the Jagannath Temple in Puri.

Offering prayers to Lord Jagannath ahead of his debut film Madhumalati, Mishra described the visit as “wonderful,” noting that the rain during his time at the shrine felt like divine blessings.

“It was a great experience. It has rained, and India needs water. Jagannath has been very kind. I have come here to make a film, my first film in Odia, and I have to take His blessings,” he told reporters.

The actor also partook in the temple’s Mahaprasad, calling it “very good”, and praised the cleanliness around the temple premises.

He clarified that this was his second visit to the shrine, adding, “Is this my first visit to the Jagannath Temple? No, no, it’s my second time, and I will keep coming.” Mishra recalled earlier visits to Konark while shooting in Odisha, noting his admiration for the state’s cultural heritage.

Mishra has now begun shooting for Madhumalati, his debut in Odia cinema. The film, produced under the Auroshree Films banner and directed by Mrityunjay Sahoo, is a romantic drama set in the 1980s.

With the tagline “80s Romance is Back,” the project aims to revive the warmth and innocence of classic love stories. Filming commenced at the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bus Terminal in Baramunda, one of the chosen locations.
