Bollywood Celebrity / Radhika Apte Says Women Have “Zero Time” for Themselves

Mumbai, Sep 18: Actress Radhika Apte has reflected on the challenges women face in carving out time for their own desires, pointing to the pressures of balancing professional commitments, motherhood, and household responsibilities. Speaking in the context of Lust Stories 3, she underlined the importance of women having space to pursue interests beyond their roles.

When asked whether men often have more time to think about their sexual desires compared to working women, Apte agreed, noting that women frequently have “zero time” due to hectic routines. “I think what you said is so true because women have zero time, it's so hectic, and that's the problem,” she told IANS.

Referring to her segment in Lust Stories 3, Apte said the narrative explored the idea of women making space for their own desires. She recalled a line where the character Coco questions whether it was time to do something for themselves. According to Apte, such desires could be as simple as taking a walk or exploring something new. “Whether that's a sexual desire or desire to go to Borivali National Park for a walk, it doesn't matter,” she explained.

Apte also spoke about how a woman’s identity often becomes closely tied to motherhood after having children. “Identity completely switches to motherhood, and that's not true. You are also a person. There's also a small child inside you who wants to try different things and just live life,” she said.

Highlighting the imbalance in household responsibilities, Apte pointed out that men may rest after work, while women often continue with cooking, cleaning, childcare, and other duties. “After working for 12 hours, a man comes home, has dinner, and goes to sleep. But that is not the case with women,” she said, adding that many women find domestic responsibilities more exhausting than professional work.

She stressed that sharing duties at home could ease the burden and allow women more freedom to pursue personal interests.

Apte features in the Lust Stories 3 segment directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, which premiered on Netflix on September 18. The story explores themes of husband-swapping and female solidarity, while also raising questions about women’s autonomy and desires.
