Bhubaneswar, Nov 25: After the wedding of Indian women's cricket team's vice-captain Smriti Mandhana with filmmaker and music composer Palash Muchhal has come to a halt, texts of him and a woman identified as Mary D'Costa, a choreographer, has sent the netizens into a tizzy, suggesting that the filmmaker was "cheating" on his fiancée before the wedding could take place on November 23.
The Instagram user shared screenshots of her conversation with Palash on Reddit, in which he is inviting her for a swim, spa and a sunrise visit to a beach. The woman repeatedly asked his relationship status, which he was dodging. According to the chats, he was continuously urging her to meet him, and didn't respond to questions related to his love life.
Although the woman went offline soon after deleting the
posts, they spread rapidly across the internet. Majority of the reactions it
drew sided with Smriti, calling the act done by Palash "shameless"
and leaving an "ick". Many of the internet users praised Smriti for
"dodging a bullet". Some called Palash's public acts of love a stunt
and rather performative.

Smriti Mandhana has deleted posts and videos of her wedding after her father reportedly fell ill on the day of the wedding and was rushed to the hospital. Following his hospital admission, Palash fell ill and became hospitalised.

Both Palash and Smriti have made no further statement after the halt, but the music composer's sister, singer and lyricist Palak Muchhal, posted a story that read, "Due to Smriti's dad health, Smriti and Palash's wedding has been put on hold. Would request all of you to respect the privacy of the families in this sensitive time."
At a time where AI reigns, can a screenshot or any such image be considered real? And most importantly …can it be relied upon? Only time will tell.
