Relationships / Not Twice, But Thrice: Indian Celebrities Who Married Three or More Times

Bhubaneswar, Sep 26: For most people, one wedding is a milestone. For a handful of India's most recognisable entertainers, life took them to the mandap more than once, and sometimes three or even four times. Their stories span Bollywood, Bengali and Telugu cinema, music and television, and reflect very different circumstances rather than one common template.

The subject has returned to the spotlight after Aamir Khan married Gauri Spratt in July 2026, marking his third marriage. Khan was earlier married to Reena Dutta, with whom he has two children, and filmmaker Kiran Rao, with whom he continues to co-parent their son Azad after their separation in 2021.

But Khan is far from the only Indian celebrity to have married three times.

Prosenjit Chatterjee

One of Bengali cinema's biggest stars, Prosenjit Chatterjee, has been married three times. His first marriage was to actress Debashree Roy. He subsequently married Aparna Guha Thakurta, with whom he has a daughter, Prerona. In 2002, he married actress Arpita Chatterjee, and they have a son, Trishanjit.

Neelima Azeem


Actor Neelima Azeem, known to a younger generation also as the mother of Shahid Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, has been married three times. Her first marriage was to actor Pankaj Kapur, followed by her marriage to actor Rajesh Khatter. Her third marriage was to vocalist Raza Ali Khan. In 2026, Azeem spoke publicly about the social judgement she had faced over her marriages.

Pawan Kalyan


Telugu star and politician Pawan Kalyan has also been married three times. His first marriage, to Nandini, took place in 1997. He later married actor Renu Desai in 2009. Following their divorce, Kalyan married Anna Lezhneva in 2013. Speaking about his marriages in an interview, Kalyan said that his first marriage had been arranged and that his subsequent relationships unfolded under different circumstances.

Lucky Ali

Singer and actor Lucky Ali has also married three times. His first marriage was to New Zealand-born model Meaghan Jane McCleary, followed by his marriage to Inaya. In 2010, he married British model and former Miss England Kate Hallam. That marriage later ended in divorce.

Karan Singh Grover


Television and film actor Karan Singh Grover married actress Shraddha Nigam in 2008. Following their divorce, he married his Dill Mill Gayye co-star Jennifer Winget. That marriage also ended in divorce. In 2016, Grover married actress Bipasha Basu, with whom he remains married.

Kishore Kumar


The record goes even further back with legendary singer-actor Kishore Kumar, who married four times. His wives were Ruma Guha Thakurta, Madhubala, Yogeeta Bali and Leena Chandavarkar. His marriage to Madhubala lasted until her death in 1969, while his marriage to Bali ended in divorce. He married Chandavarkar in 1980 and remained with her until his death in 1987.

Kabir Bedi


And then there is Kabir Bedi, who has been married four times. His wives were Protima Bedi, Susan Humphreys, Nikki Bedi and Parveen Dusanj. Bedi married Dusanj in 2016, making it his fourth marriage.

Sanjay Dutt


Sanjay Dutt's marital journey has three chapters. He married actress Richa Sharma in 1987, and the couple had a daughter, Trishala. Sharma died in 1996 after battling a brain tumour. Dutt married model Rhea Pillai in 1998, but their marriage eventually ended in divorce. In 2008, he married Maanayata Dutt, with whom he has twins.

From cinema legends such as Kishore Kumar and Kabir Bedi to contemporary stars such as Aamir Khan and Karan Singh Grover, these stories span more than seven decades of Indian popular culture.

The number of marriages may be the common thread, but the circumstances behind each are distinctly their own.
