Mumbai, Apr 12: Zanai Bhosle, the granddaughter of iconic Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle, is preparing to step into the world of cinema with her debut in The Pride of Bharat – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The historical epic, starring acclaimed actor Rishab Shetty, is scheduled for a global theatrical release on January 21, 2027.
In the film, Zanai will portray Rani Sai Bhonsale (Sai Bai), the first wife of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The project is ambitious in scale, with production planned across multiple languages including Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Malayalam, and Bengali. The role carries symbolic weight, as sources suggest Zanai herself belongs to the royal Maratha lineage, adding depth to her portrayal.
Born in Mumbai in 2002, Zanai is the daughter of Anand Bhosle and Ahuja Bhosle, and has a brother named Ranjay Bhosle. She studied at the prestigious Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland and grew up surrounded by music, inheriting the rich legacy of her grandmother Asha Bhosle and great-granduncle R. D. Burman.
