Mumbai, Jan 1: Television actor Arjun Bijlani is mourning the death of his father-in-law, Rakesh Chandra Swami, who passed away on Thursday morning. He was 73.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, Swami, the father of Bijlani’s wife Neha Swami, suffered a sudden deterioration in health and was rushed to hospital. He was admitted to the intensive care unit on Monday and placed on ventilator support. He died on January 1, 2026.
Sources said Swami had been in stable condition earlier and had shared a meal with family members before his health declined. Reports indicated that he suffered a stroke.
Family members confirmed the death through social media posts. The last rites are scheduled to be held later on Thursday at the Hindu crematorium in Oshiwara, Mumbai.
Arjun Bijlani has not made a public statement so far. He is known to have shared a close bond with his father-in-law. Bijlani lost his own father at the age of 19, and family sources have earlier said that Rakesh Swami held a significant place in his life after his marriage to Neha.
