New Delhi, Mar 2: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday urged foreign higher education institutions to collaborate with India’s fast-growing, innovation-driven education system.
Speaking at the Study in India Edu-Diplomatic Conclave
2026 at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi, Pradhan addressed diplomats from over
50 countries, including Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and representatives of
diplomatic missions, in a bid to strengthen international cooperation in higher
education.

The Minister highlighted the transformation of India’s education
landscape under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, underscoring the
country’s focus on quality, innovation, and affordability. He stressed that
India is committed to expanding global pathways for students, researchers, and
institutions.
“Education remains the most enduring bridge between
societies in a world marked by uncertainty and rapid change,” he said, calling
upon global partners to join India’s evolving knowledge ecosystem.

Pradhan also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of India becoming a developed nation by 2047, coinciding with 100 years of Independence. He emphasized that India continues to be a bright spot in the global economic landscape, offering immense opportunities to learn, research, and innovate.
From artificial intelligence and biotechnology to semiconductors and sustainable energy, India is positioning itself as a trusted innovation partner, advancing a Global South model rooted in collaboration, capacity-building, and shared knowledge.
The conclave discussions explored avenues for cooperation,
including student mobility, joint academic programmes, research partnerships,
and the establishment of international campuses in India. Pradhan noted
that the Study in India initiative is designed to invite students from
partner countries to pursue higher education and short-term programmes in
India, while encouraging globally ranked universities to establish their
presence in the country.
