Thiruvananthapuram, July 19: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday attended the 7th Convocation Ceremony of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Palakkad in Kerala and urged the IIT graduates to become torchbearers of India’s technological transformation.

Speaking on the occasion, Pradhan expressed his delight at being part of the ceremony and extended heartfelt congratulations to the students for earning their degrees and medals.
“As this bright batch of students embarks on their professional journeys, I wish them the best,” the Minister wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “May they carry with them the spirit of IIT Palakkad and the larger vision of Viksit Bharat @2047—walking ahead with courage, commitment, contribution and purpose.”
Highlighting IIT Palakkad's remarkable growth over the last ten years, Pradhan lauded the institution for evolving into a hub of academic excellence, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He emphasized the pivotal role of institutes like IIT Palakkad in shaping India's future, especially as the nation works toward becoming a developed country by 2047.

✨The Minister stressed the importance of technological self-reliance, advanced agricultural practices, leadership in clean energy, climate action, and the creation of inclusive digital public infrastructure. He expressed confidence that IIT Palakkad would continue leading in these key areas, contributing meaningfully to national priorities.
Pradhan urged the students to take the lead in building world-class infrastructure across various sectors, including transport, housing, medical facilities, and agriculture.
The Minister also called upon graduating students to draw inspiration from ancient Indian scholar Madhava of Sangamagrama, urging them to establish India-specific research models and pave the way for innovation and ethical progress.
A total of 328 students received their certificates from the Minister during the ceremony.
