New Delhi, Nov 17: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday said that India will roll out artificial intelligence (AI)-based education from Class 3 onwards in the current academic year.
Pradhan made the announcement while inaugurating a series of
AI initiatives at the AI Impact Festival 2025 in New Delhi, held in
collaboration with Intel.

The Minister added that AI-driven educational programmes,
part of the government’s flagship Digital India initiative, are designed to
prepare students for a future shaped by artificial intelligence and emerging
technologies.
Vision of Digital India
Pradhan emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s
vision of a digitally empowered India is at the heart of this transformation.
“For Indians, AI is a powerful tool. Prime Minister Modi, as a visionary
leader, has envisioned that, as part of Digital India, all Indian students will
learn through AI,” he said. The Minister highlighted that AI modules will be
gradually introduced across different classes, ensuring students gain exposure
to cutting-edge technology from an early age.
The Indian Union Budget 2025-26 allocated Rs500 crore to
establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the
education sector, the Minister noted.

Walking through the AI innovation showcase at the festival,
Pradhan expressed admiration for the projects presented by school and college
students. “Amazed to see the AI experiments and projects by our Innovation Generation. These young minds will strengthen India’s position as a
global technology powerhouse,” he posted on X.

Pradhan reiterated that India’s strength lies in combining human intelligence with artificial intelligence to build a Viksit Bharat (Developed India). The AI initiatives are expected to spark creativity, enhance problem-solving skills, and prepare students for the demands of the future workforce.
