Students’ AI projects hailed as the future of India’s tech leadership.

New Delhi, Nov 17: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday said that India will roll out artificial intelligence (AI)-based education from Class 3 onwards in the current academic year.

Pradhan made the announcement while inaugurating a series of AI initiatives at the AI Impact Festival 2025 in New Delhi, held in collaboration with Intel.

The Minister added that AI-driven educational programmes, part of the government’s flagship Digital India initiative, are designed to prepare students for a future shaped by artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

Vision of Digital India

Pradhan emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a digitally empowered India is at the heart of this transformation. “For Indians, AI is a powerful tool. Prime Minister Modi, as a visionary leader, has envisioned that, as part of Digital India, all Indian students will learn through AI,” he said. The Minister highlighted that AI modules will be gradually introduced across different classes, ensuring students gain exposure to cutting-edge technology from an early age.

The Indian Union Budget 2025-26 allocated Rs500 crore to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the education sector, the Minister noted.

The initiatives align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which stresses innovation, creativity, and future-ready skills. Pradhan commended Intel for supporting these efforts, noting that AI accessibility will act as a catalyst in advancing India’s journey toward becoming a developed and digitally empowered nation.

Innovation Generation

Walking through the AI innovation showcase at the festival, Pradhan expressed admiration for the projects presented by school and college students. “Amazed to see the AI experiments and projects by our  Innovation Generation. These young minds will strengthen India’s position as a global technology powerhouse,” he posted on X.

Towards Viksit Bharat

Pradhan reiterated that India’s strength lies in combining human intelligence with artificial intelligence to build a Viksit Bharat (Developed India). The AI initiatives are expected to spark creativity, enhance problem-solving skills, and prepare students for the demands of the future workforce.

With this bold step, India positions itself as a frontrunner in AI-driven education, aiming to nurture a generation that is not only digitally literate but also globally competitive.
