New Delhi, Sep 23: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday launched the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 in New Delhi, marking a significant step toward empowering India’s youth through creativity, innovation, and self-reliance.
The initiative, jointly organized by the Department of
School Education and Literacy and the Atal Innovation Mission of NITI Aayog,
will culminate in a nationwide event on 13th October 2025.

In a post on X, Minister Pradhan said, “ A largest-ever school hackathon, #ViksitBharatBuildathon will further strengthen the culture of innovation at grassroots by encouraging students to ideate and build products on four themes—‘Vocal For Local, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi and Samriddhi’. It will celebrate student innovations, engineer an innovation renaissance in the country and also ensure that our young generations become key drivers of Samridhh, Viksit and Atmanirbhar Bharat.”

✨The Buildathon aims to engage 12 crore students from six lakh schools across India, encouraging them to ideate, design, and build prototypes aligned with themes such as Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, Vocal for Local, and Samriddh Bharat. Registration for students begins today and will remain open until 6th October 2025.
Pradhan emphasized the importance of innovation in nation-building, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently prioritized innovation over the past eleven years.
The Minister highlighted the success of the Atal Innovation Mission, which has established over 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs across the country to foster scientific thinking and problem-solving among school students.

The Buildathon is designed to be more than a competition—it’s a movement to instill a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship in the next generation.
