Bhubaneswar/Pipili, Jun 8: A young woman has alleged that she was sexually assaulted at a hotel in Pipili after being taken there by a relative, prompting police to arrest the accused from Odisha's Jajpur district.

The accused has been identified as Jitu Samal. He was arrested on the basis of the victim's complaint and statement recorded by the police.

Accused Arrested Following Complaint
According to a source, the woman lodged an FIR at Dhauli Police Station alleging that Jitu Samal, described as her relative, raped her after taking her to a hotel in the Gudiapokhari area of Pipili in Puri district.

Acting on the complaint, police launched an investigation and later apprehended the accused from Jajpur district.

Victim Alleges She Was Misled
As per the complaint, the victim, who was staying in a hostel, had accompanied the accused to Dhauli Police Station in connection with a separate matter.

She alleged that the accused informed her that the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) was not available and subsequently took her to an OYO hotel in Pipili.

The woman further claimed that the accused instructed her to identify herself as his wife if questioned by police during a possible raid.

The victim further alleged that she was threatened and raped inside the hotel room.

After leaving the hotel, she approached the police and lodged a formal complaint detailing the alleged incident.

Police launched an investigation based on the complaint.
