Pipili, Feb 12: Police have achieved a major breakthrough in the sensational Kinnar Sona murder case following the encounter of prime accused Krishna Kandi.
A scientific team led by Aditya Ranjan Nayak visited the encounter site early Thursday morning. They recovered a blue Pulsar bike, a pistol, one live bullet, two empty cartridges, and blood samples for forensic examination.
Investigators suspect Krishna killed Kinnar Sona alias
Anjali (also known as Dinesh Rout) with the intention of robbery. During the
attack, Krishna and his two associates allegedly assaulted Sona with knives
after a scuffle. Sona managed to call a friend for help but succumbed to heavy
blood loss. Police are now conducting raids to apprehend the two absconding
accomplices.

On Wednesday, police intercepted Krishna near Pipili bypass. According our source, Krishna opened fire at Police. In retaliation, police fired three rounds, one of which struck Krishna in his left leg, leading to his capture.

✨According to our sources in police department, Krishna is a hardened criminal with multiple cases of loot and snatching registered against him. He hails from Gadarupasa in Konark.
His involvement in the murder of Kinnar Sona came to light after investigators examined call records. “Sona had reportedly phoned a friend immediately after the attack, revealing details of the assault. Prior to the incident, Krishna had repeatedly called Sona’s phone, raising suspicion,” revealed the source on conditions of anonymity.
“On the day of the encounter, Krishna was traveling from
Puri towards Bhubaneswar on a Pulsar bike (registration OD02DF-3933). Acting on
intelligence, a special police team led by Pipili police station officer
Soumendu Tripathy lay in wait near Tarakaj Chhak,” said the source.

“When stopped, Krishna abandoned his bike and fired at the
police. The team responded with controlled fire, injuring him before taking him
into custody,” he added further.
Krishna was first admitted to Pipili Community Health Centre
and later shifted to SCB Medical College, Cuttack, for treatment. Police
confirmed that he will be formally arrested after recovery.
