Bhawanipatna, Aug 6: Kalahandi police have made significant progress in the investigation into the brutal killing of BJP leader Fakir Rana in Madanpur Rampur.
Authorities confirmed that two suspects have been detained for questioning, while two others remain absconding. Raids are underway at multiple locations to apprehend the fugitives, according to Kalahandi SP.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when Rana, husband of Snigdha Rana, the sarpanch of D. Karlakhunta panchayat, was returning home on his motorcycle after finishing personal work in Madanpur Rampur.

✨Around 8:30 pm, miscreants allegedly lured him out of his house and attacked him with sharp weapons, including knives. His cries for help drew nearby villagers, who found him lying in a pool of blood. Despite being rushed to Madanpur Rampur hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The murder has sent shockwaves across the region, sparking urgent calls for the immediate arrest of the culprits and the imposition of strict punishment. Police have tightened security in the area, deploying additional forces to prevent any untoward incidents.
Investigators are exploring multiple angles, including political rivalry, business disputes, family conflicts, and possible enmity related to contract work. Both Madanpur Rampur police and Kesinga SDPO are jointly probing the case.
The killing has left the Karlakhunta panchayat in mourning,
with locals expressing grief and anger over the loss of a prominent leader.
