Crime News / Plus-III Student Alleges Forcible Abduction and Rape Inside Hotel in Kendujhar; Accused Arrested

Anandapur, Oct 3: Police arrested a man after a Plus-III college student from the Soso police station area of Odisha's Kendujhar district alleged that she was forcibly taken from the road and raped inside a hotel.

The accused has been identified as Rashmi Ranjan Sethi from Mundukati village. Police registered a case based on the complaint and arrested him for interrogation.

Student Taken To Hotel
According to the complaint, the student was travelling to college when the accused allegedly called her away from a bus on the pretext of some work and took her to a hotel near Salabani Square.

She alleged that the accused raped her inside the hotel.

The student later returned home and informed her family members, following which a written complaint was lodged at Soso police station.

Police Begin Investigation
Based on the complaint, police arranged for the student's medical examination and arrested the accused.

The student's mother alleged that her husband had dropped their daughter near a bus while she was on her way to college.

"My husband dropped my daughter near a bus for college. Afterwards, Rashmi Ranjan Sethi pulled her in front of the Senapati bus and forcibly took her to a nearby hotel. Rashmi was assisted by another person named Dhani in abducting my daughter. Then, Rashmi raped her inside the hotel. When she pleaded with the hotel's manager, my husband was informed and she was rescued," she said.

The allegations are under investigation, and further details are awaited from the police.
