Kataka, Oct 22: Odisha Vigilance on Thursday has unearthed three multi-storey buildings, a farmhouse, three high-value plots and gold jewellery weighing around 550 grams during simultaneous searches at seven locations linked to Tapan Sethy, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) in the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Sub-Division at Badachana in Jajpur district.
The searches are being conducted over allegations that Sethy possesses assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The operation is being carried out by a Vigilance team comprising three additional superintendents of police, six deputy superintendents of police, three inspectors and other supporting personnel.
The searches are being conducted under warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Kataka. Sethy is posted at Badachana under the Superintending Engineer, R&B Division, Charbatia, Choudwar, in Kataka district.

According to Vigilance officials, the properties identified during the searches so far include:

A farmhouse spread over one acre at Kantapada near Kataka.
Three high-value plots, including two in Bhubaneswar and one in CDA, Kataka.
The measurement and valuation of the buildings, farmhouse and plots are being carried out by the Vigilance Technical Wing.

Gold Jewellery, Vehicles Found

Two four-wheelers, a Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and a Hyundai Santro, along with two two-wheelers, have also been identified.
A bank locker operated by Sethy at the State Bank of India's main branch in Bhubaneswar is yet to be opened. Details of bank deposits and other financial investments are also being ascertained.
The searches were continuing at the time of filing this report. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
