Satna, Aug 18: Madhya Pradesh Police launched a probe into the death of a 30-year-old man from Odisha, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside a hotel room in Satna.
Police identified the deceased as Bachhal Loknath, a resident of Ganjam district in Odisha. His body was found in Room No. 105 of Chandravyu Hotel under the Kolgawan police station limits on Monday evening.
According to police, Loknath had been visiting Satna frequently for company-related work for about one and a half years and used to stay at the same hotel. He had checked into the hotel on July 29.
“Hotel staff told us that the man had not been seen coming out of the room after August 14. When there was no movement from the room on Monday evening, the manager got it opened and found him dead on the floor,” a police official said.
Police and a forensic team inspected the room after being informed of the incident. Traces of blood were found on the floor near the body, while blood was also noticed coming from the deceased's nose. Eleven empty liquor bottles, cigarette packets and corn cobs were recovered from the room. Police said they have taken the items into account as part of the investigation.
Hotel staff told investigators that Loknath generally ordered food once a day and would also order liquor and cigarettes in the evening.
“The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained. The body has been sent to the district hospital, and further action will be taken after the post‑mortem examination,” the official said.
