Bhubaneswar, Jul 15: A young nurse working at a private medical facility in Patia has died by suicide, allegedly driven to the extreme step due to blackmail by her former lover. The incident has sent shockwaves across the city.
Police said the nurse, originally from Balangir district, was living in a rented house near Damana square with her current partner, Mahesh Nath. On Tuesday, her lifeless body was discovered inside the rented accommodation.
Investigations revealed that the nurse had previously been in a relationship with a man named Paramananda from Balangir. Following their breakup, she began living with Mahesh in Bhubaneswar.

However, Paramananda allegedly discovered her new relationship and began blackmailing her.
According to Mahesh, the harassment intensified on Tuesday, leaving the nurse distressed and unable to cope. He told police that Paramananda’s constant threats and pressure ultimately drove her to take her own life.
Police have seized the nurse’s mobile phone and are examining call records and recordings. Preliminary findings suggest that Paramananda’s blackmail played a significant role in her decision.

✨Both Mahesh and Paramananda have been detained for questioning by Chandrasekharpur Police.
Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the suicide, including the extent of harassment and the role of both men.
