Baripada, Sep 12: A man from Odisha's Mayurbhanj district was allegedly hacked to death in Hyderabad on Thursday night, with CCTV footage of the brutal attack circulating on social media.
The deceased was identified as Sashidhar Raj, son of late Shambhunath Raj from Dumuria village under Dhatika panchayat in Suliapada police station limits.
According to a source, Sashidhar had travelled to Hyderabad in search of employment and was staying and working at a guest house there. A few months ago, when he returned home, he took his wife along with him to Hyderabad, where the couple had been living and working.
As per the source, Sashidhar's wife was inside their room when he stepped out for some work. A man approached him on the road carrying a knife and attacked him. The assailant stabbed Sashidhar repeatedly in the chest before fleeing the spot.

The entire incident was reportedly captured on a CCTV camera installed in the area. The footage has since surfaced on social media.
Hyderabad Police Begin Probe
Afterwards, Police from Madhapur police station reached the spot after being informed about the incident and recovered Sashidhar's body. A murder case was registered and an investigation is underway.
The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem, according to information received from his relatives.
The motive behind the killing and the identity of the accused were not immediately clear.

Family Seeks Help For Children
It can be mentioned here that Sashidhar came from an economically disadvantaged family. His death has left his two minor children and other family members in distress.

Bhagaban Dhal, a relative of the deceased, said the family had been left devastated after seeing the video of the attack.
“The video of the murder circulating on social media is horrific. Sashidhar had two minor children. His wife is in Hyderabad. The family members are completely shattered and the kids are crying,” Dhal said.
He appealed to the Odisha government to facilitate the safe return of Sashidhar's wife and urged the local authorities to take stringent action against the person responsible for the killing.
The family has also sought government assistance for the bereaved family and demanded that the circumstances surrounding the murder be thoroughly investigated.
“The video of the murder circulating on social media is horrific. Sashidhar had two minor children. His wife is in Hyderabad. The family members are completely shattered and the kids are crying,” Dhal said.
