Amritsar, Sep 12: Tension gripped Jandiala Guru in Amritsar district after an attempted robbery at the Union Bank of India branch. Around five masked youths entered the bank, initially posing as regular customers, before attempting to attack the security guard with a spray.
According to bank officials, the branch was functioning normally when the suspects walked in around 11 am. Their faces were covered with cloth, but staff assumed they were ordinary customers. The youths sat in the waiting area for some time, raising no immediate suspicion.
However, their movements soon appeared suspicious. One of them suddenly tried to spray the security guard, apparently to incapacitate him.

✨The guard, alert to the situation, reacted swiftly and resisted the attack. Startled by his quick response, the suspects fled the bank premises without succeeding in their plan.
Eyewitnesses said the guard’s vigilance prevented what could have been a major robbery. A customer present at the time stated that if the guard had not intervened, the suspects might have looted cash and valuables from the branch.
Fortunately, no one was injured and no money was stolen.
Police teams rushed to the spot after being informed. Officers confirmed that the suspects attempted to spray the guard but failed.
Investigators have seized CCTV footage from inside the bank and surrounding areas to identify the culprits. The footage is being examined to trace their movements before and after the incident.
Authorities are confident that the suspects will be
identified soon. Police have intensified the probe and assured that strict
action will be taken once the accused are apprehended.
