Bhubaneswar, Sep 4: With the festive season approaching, the Commissionerate Police has launched a special drive against habitual offenders, drug peddlers and other alleged criminal networks to maintain law and order during the celebrations.
As part of the drive, police are preparing a fresh list of hardcore and repeat offenders and checking whether accused persons facing criminal cases are regularly reporting to their respective police stations as required. Those found violating the conditions imposed in their cases could face further police action.
Repeat Offenders Under Surveillance
Police sources said strict surveillance is being maintained over people involved in multiple criminal cases. Officers are also reviewing attendance records of accused persons who are required to report to police stations periodically.
The exercise is aimed at identifying habitual offenders who could pose a challenge to law and order during the festive season, when large crowds are expected at puja pandals and other public places in Kataka and Bhubaneswar.
