Bhubaneswar, Aug 2: A man has been arrested for allegedly raping a nurse on the false promise of marriage after a zero FIR registered at Balipatna police station was transferred to Lingaraj police station, where the alleged offence was reported to have taken place.
The accused was identified as Bhabatosh Mohanty, a resident of the Balipatna police station area. He was produced before a court on Saturday, a source said.
Relationship Began After Birthday Party
According to the source, the complainant had married about nine years ago and has a nine-year-old son. Following marital discord, she left her matrimonial home with her child and moved to Bhubaneswar, where she began working as a nurse.
Police said she met Bhabatosh Mohanty at a friend's birthday party. The two subsequently developed a relationship and had been living together for about a year.

Marriage Dispute Led To Complaint
According to the complaint, when the woman asked Bhabatosh to marry her, he left Bhubaneswar for his native village in Balipatna and changed his mobile phone number.
The complainant alleged that she later visited his house, where his father and brother threatened her with dire consequences.
She subsequently lodged a complaint at Balipatna police station.
Zero FIR Transferred, Accused Arrested
As the alleged offences were reported to have occurred within the jurisdiction of Lingaraj police station in Bhubaneswar, Balipatna police registered a zero FIR and transferred the case to Lingaraj police station for investigation.
Police subsequently arrested the accused and produced him before a court.
