Crime in Odisha / Bhubaneswar Truck Loot Accused Arrested

Bhubaneswar, Sep 5: Bhubaneswar police have cracked a major truck loot case, arresting the prime accused Naba Kishore Behera. According to Tamando police, Behera allegedly barged into his former employer’s house, assaulted her, misbehaved, and issued death threats while flashing a gun photo.

He is accused of forcibly seizing three trucks belonging to the woman. Police recovered two trucks and two mobile phones from his possession.

Investigators revealed Behera has a criminal history, with prior cases registered in Cuttack and Nayagada. Police said he was dismissed from his job before orchestrating the loot.

“He threatened to kill me by showing a gun photo,” the victim alleged. The probe continues to trace other accomplices involved in the crime.

Meanwhile, tension gripped Budhalo village under Balianta police station after idols were stolen from the local Thakurani temple. Villagers discovered the theft early Saturday, sparking outrage.

The incident has reignited a 20‑year dispute between Budhalo and a nearby village over temple ownership.

Reports suggest miscreants shifted the idol and other items to a newly constructed temple overnight, intensifying the conflict. Hundreds of villagers gathered at Balianta police station demanding immediate recovery and reinstallation of the idol.

The situation turned tense, prompting senior officers including Zone‑4 ACP, IICs of Balianta, Balipatna, Pahal, and Nandankanan police stations to intervene and pacify the crowd.

Authorities assured villagers that investigation is underway and efforts are being made to resolve the dispute peacefully.
