The accused has been identified as Rajendra Das, a resident of Betada under Basudevpur police station limits in the district.
As per reports, Rajendra had entered into a dispute with his wife, Simarani Das, few days ago following which the latter left the house and took shelter at her parents’ house. Their two minor children were however staying with Rajendra.
In the meantime, Simarani came to know that her husband has sold their younger son to another couple.
Apparently, Simarani lodged a complaint at Basudevpur police station in this connection following which the police conducted raids at several places and finally, rescued the child from a couple in Balasore district in the State.
The accused had allegedly sold his son to the couple for Rs 18,000.

Police registered a case against the accused person under various sections of IPC. “The accused person has been detained and further investigation is underway,” police said.
