Senior BJP leader and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday expressed his desire to see Narendra Modi elected as Prime Minister of India for a fourth consecutive term.

Baripada, Feb 22: Senior BJP leader and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday expressed his desire to see Narendra Modi elected as Prime Minister of India for a fourth consecutive term.

Singh said this here in Odisha this afternoon while addressing a BJP workers’ meeting encompassing four Lok Sabha constituencies Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak.

“I can say with confidence that Modi will return as prime minister for the third time. I sincerely hope that with the blessings of Lord Jagannath, Modi will return as PM for the fourth time,” Singh said.

The Union Minister also expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will secure over 400 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Singh also pointed out India’s economic progress, citing its ascent to the fifth position globally and emphasising the government’s initiatives to alleviate poverty.

The Defence Minister praised PM Modi’s initiatives aimed at empowering women, such as the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, which provides 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and legislative assemblies.

Singh also wooed tribal voters by acknowledging the tribal-dominated nature of Mayurbhanj and highlighting the fact that it is the home of President Droupadi Murmu.

The Minister also mentioned the inauguration of the Ram Temple, noting that the Opposition had often criticsed the BJP over this issue but were silenced when Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the temple on January 22.

Singh also appealed to the people to support the BJP’s efforts in forming a “double-engine” government in Odisha, signaling the party’s ambitions for electoral success in the state.

Odisha: Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan hold roadshow

Jharsuguda, April 29: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai along with Union Minister and BJP candidate Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday held a roadshow in Odisha's Jharsuguda ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in the state.

Dharmendra Pradhan, who is the BJP candidate from Sambalpur Lok Sabha constituency, is contesting elections after a gap of 15 years. Sambalpur goes to the polls on May 25.

Later in the day, speaking to reporters here, CM Sai said, "A roadshow was done today. I was also invited... It was a historic roadshow. The BJP will perform well in Odisha. We will win the maximum Lok Sabha seats here... The BJP will for the government here..."

Union Minister Pradhan said, "The CM of Chhattisgarh lead the grand program of the BJP today. There is a Modi wave in the country and in Odisha. All 21 seats in Odisha will be won by the BJP..."

Earlier in the day, former Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Reena Tanty and her husband, Motilal Tanty joined the BJP in the presence of Dharmendra Pradhan.

Taking to his official X handle, Dharmendra Pradhan welcomed Motilal Tanty and Reena Tanty and said that a new chapter has started in the politics of Odisha.

He said, "A new chapter in Odisha politics! At the merger festival held in Sambalpur, I welcome Motilal Tanty and Reena Tanty to the party. A few days ago, Prabodh Tirkee, former captain of the Indian hockey team, the glory of Odisha, also joined our team at the Sonepur Vijaya Sangam Sabha. A new chapter has started in the politics of Odisha with the involvement of these three organisers and individuals representing the tribal society."

Assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be held simultaneously in Odisha in four phases, starting from Phase One on May 13, Phase Two on May 20, Phase Three on May 25 and the final Phase on June 1. The results will be announced on June 4.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) got the maximum number of seats, followed by the BJP and the Congress. The BJD won 12 seats, the BJP finished a close second at 8 seats and the Congress bagged just a lone seat. (ANI)

PM Modi to address six poll rallies in two days in Maharashtra

Mumbai, April 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address six campaign rallies for the MahaYuti alliance in Maharashtra on Monday and Tuesday.

Prime Minister Modi will address poll rallies in Solapur, Karad and Pune on Monday and in Malshiras, Dharashiv and Latur on Tuesday, said state BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule.

On Monday, the Prime Minister will address a rally at 2:15 p.m. in Solapur for BJP nominee Ram Satpute, who is pitted against Congress' Praniti Shinde. At 4:30 p.m., he will hold a rally in Karad for party nominee Udayanraje Bhosale who is fighting against the NCP-Sharadchandra Pawar candidate Shashikant Shinde from Satara constituency. Prime Minister Modi's third rally of the day is slated for 6:30 p.m. at Race Course ground in Pune's Hadapsar, where he will campaign for BJP nominee from Pune, Murlidhar Mohol; Shiv Sena candidate from Maval, Shrirang Barne; NCP nominee from Baramati, Sunetra Pawar; and NCP candidate from Shirur, Shivajirao Adhalarao Patil.

Mohol is fighting against Congress' Ravindra Dhangekar, Barne against Shiv Sena-UBT nominee Sanjog Waghere, Sunetra Pawar against her sister-in-law and NCP-Sharadchandra Pawar nominee Supriya Sule, and Patil against NCP-Sharadchandra Pawar nominee Amol Kolhe.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi will address a campaign rally at 11:45 a.m. in Malshiras for BJP nominee from Madha constituency Ranjeetsingh H. Naik Nimbalkar, who is in a direct contest against NCP-Sharadchandra Pawar nominee Mohite Patil Dhairyasheel Rajsinh. Thereafter, the Prime Minister will hold a rally in Dharashiv at 1:30 p.m. for the NCP nominee Archana Patil who is pitted against Shiv Sena-UBT nominee Omraje Nimbalkar. Prime Minister Modi's last rally for the day in Maharashtra is slated for 3 p.m. at Latur for BJP nominee Sudhakar Shringare who is contesting against Congress' Shivaji Kalge.

The polling in Baramati, Dharashiv, Latur, Solapur, Madha and Satara will be held on May 7 while in Maval, Pune and Shirur on May 13.
