'Kalki 2898 AD': Cine Goers Laud Amitabh Bachchan's Performance, Visual Effects

Mumbai, June 27: 'Kalki 2898 AD', starring megastars Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone, finally hit the theatres Thursday. The film received positive reviews from people who showered praise on the star cast and the VFX used in the film.

Residents of Mumbai and suburbs who watched the movie said it is engaging. "It is a wonderful film. The use of visual effects was amazing and I loved the performance of Amitabh Bachchan," said a Mumbai resident.

"This is Amitabh Bachchan's film," said a fan of the veteran actor. "It is a completely engaging film and the visual effects make it more entertaining. The storyline makes it a worth watching film," said another Mumbai resident.

"Everyone has performed well. Amit sir has given his best. Song and background music are okay but the most remarkable is its presentation through visual effects," said a businessman who went to watch the movie.

People also liked the direction of the film. "Big B performed well. No one can play Ashwatthama better than him. Prabhas sir is also evergreen and Deepika also performed well. The film also gives a strong message. It has a strong storyline. Vfx is great. Big B is the highlight of the film. Plot and storyline are wonderful," said an Andheri resident.

A resident of Mumbai said there are some flaws. "There are many flaws. Special and background music are fine overall film cannot keep you involved. The plot is also confusing," he said.

The makers of 'Kalki 2898 AD recently unveiled the intriguing poster of Kamal Haasan's character Yaskin. "The one and only SUPREME YASKIN.. @ikamalhaasan," they captioned the poster.

Kamal Haasan's new avatar and his look have been making headlines since the trailer was released. Praising Kamal Haasan's appearance in the trailer, 'RRR' director SS Rajamouli recently said, "I am still stuck on Kamal sir's look and how he amazes as always. Nagi... can't wait to immerse into your world on the 27th."

Directed by Nag Ashwin, this post-apocalyptic film is inspired by Hindu scriptures and set in the year 2898 AD. Disha Patani is also a part of 'Kalki 2898 AD'.

PM Modi Speaks To Team India After T20 World Cup Win; Lauds Rohit, Kohli And Dravid

New Delhi, June 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Indian cricket team on the phone Sunday morning and congratulated the entire group on winning the T20 World Cup.

He congratulated Rohit Sharma for his splendid captaincy and appreciated his T20 career. However, the PM also lauded talismanic batter Virat Kohli for his 76-run innings in the final as well as contribution to Indian cricket.

Notably, following the T20 World Cup triumph, both Rohit and Virat have announced their retirement from the shortest format of the game.

PM Modi also appreciated Hardik Pandya for his final over and Suryakumar Yadav for his stunning boundary catch that proved crucial in India's win over South Africa. He also talked highly of Jaspreet Bumrah’s contribution. Meanwhile, PM Modi also thanked Rahul Dravid for his contribution to Indian cricket.

Following the telephonic interaction, the Prime Minister shared a series of tweets expressing his appreciation to coach Dravid, skipper Rohit, and batter Kohli for their valuable contributions to the sport.

"Dear @ImRo45 You are excellence personified. Your aggressive mindset, batting and captaincy has given a new dimension to the Indian team. Your T20 career will be remembered fondly. Delighted to have spoken to you earlier today," PM posted on X.

Kohli, who had struggled throughout the tournament with just 75 runs in seven games prior to the summit clash, ended his lean run with a crucial 76 off 59 balls, helping India post a competitive total of 176/7.

Reflecting on Kohli's final innings in the T2OIs, PM wrote, "Dear @imVkohli, Glad to have spoken to you. Like the innings in the Finals, you have anchored Indian batting splendidly. You’ve shone in all forms of the game. T20 Cricket will miss you but I am confident you’ll continue to motivate the new generation of players."

Moreover, it was Dravid's last day as head coach, with his contract ending after the T20 World Cup. Under his mentorship, India reached three consecutive ICC finals, including the World Test Championship and last year's ODI World Cup, but failed to secure the title on both occasions, having to wait for the coveted silverware until Barbados.

"Rahul Dravid’s incredible coaching journey has shaped the success of Indian cricket. His unwavering dedication, strategic insights and nurturing the right talent have transformed the team. India is grateful to him for his contributions and for inspiring generations. We are happy to see him lift the World Cup. Happy to have congratulated him," PM wrote in another post on X.

Earlier, PM Modi led his cabinet colleagues to cheer for the Men in Blue as they defeated South Africa in a thriller to win the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 Saturday night.

"Congratulations to Team India from all countrymen on this majestic victory in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Today 140 crore Indians will be feeling proud of your performance. You won the World Cup in the sports field but your performance in the event has captured the hearts of crores of Indian citizens," PM said in a video message congratulating the Indian team on its victory.

PM Modi Thanks Citizens In 'Mann ki Baat' Programme For Showing 'Unwavering Support' In LS Polls

New Delhi, June 30: As the monthly radio programme 'Mann ki Baat' resumed Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the countrymen for reiterating their unwavering faith in the Constitution and the democratic system of the country for Lok Sabha election 2024.

Addressing the nation in his Mann Ki Baat programme Sunday, PM Modi said that he missed the conversation with the countrymen since February when the broadcast was last aired.

'Mann Ki Baat' broadcast was last aired February 25, after which it was stopped considering the Lok Sabha elections.

"Today, finally the day has come for which we all were waiting for since February. Through 'Mann Ki Baat', I am once again amongst you, amongst my family members. I told you in February that I would meet you again after the election results and today I am again present amongst you with Mann Ki Baat. The arrival of Monsoon has made your hearts happy as well," he said.

"Friends, from February till now, whenever the last Sunday of the month would approach, I missed this conversation with you. But I also felt happy to see that you people sent me lakhs of messages in these months. Mann Ki Baat radio program might have been closed for a few months. but the spirit of Mann Ki Baat..work done for the country, the society good work done every day, work done with a selfless spirit...work that had a positive impact on society continued unabated," he added.

The Prime Minister congratulated the Election Commission and everyone associated with the 2024 election.

"Today, I thank the countrymen for reiterating their unwavering faith in our Constitution and the democratic system of the country. The 2024 election was the biggest in the world. Such a big election has never taken place in any country in the world. I congratulate the Election Commission and everyone associated with the voting process for this," he said.

PM Modi highlighted the 'Hool Diwas' celebrated by the tribal people, adding that the day is associated with the indomitable courage of brave Sidhu-Kanhu, who strongly opposed the atrocities of foreign rulers.

"Today, 30th June is a very important day. Our tribal brothers and sisters celebrate this day as 'Hool Diwas'. This day is associated with the indomitable courage of brave Sidhu-Kanhu, who strongly opposed the atrocities of foreign rulers," he said.

"Veer Sidhu-Kanhu united thousands of Santhal companions and fought the British with all their might, and do you know when this happened? This happened in 1855, that is, two years before India's first war of independence in 1857. Then our tribal brothers and sisters in Santhal Pargana of Jharkhand took up arms against the foreign rulers," the Prime Minister added.

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections took place from April 19 to June 1, in seven phases. The counting of all seven phases of Lok Sabha polls took place June 4, leading to the formation of the 18th Lok Sabha.
