Bhubaneswar, Sep 14: The deep depression over Bay of Bengal is likely to bring heavy rain in several districts of Odisha till September 16, informed the India Meteorological Department on Saturday.
The IMD issued a red warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall for three districts in Odisha- Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore- during the next 24 hours.
According to the IMD’s latest bulletin, “Isolated heavy to very heavy falls(7 to 20cm) with isolated extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) & thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore during the next 24 hours.”
The IMD issued orange warning of heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) & thunderstorm with lightning for the districts of Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Angul, Dhenkanal till 8.30 AM of Sunday.
It also issued a yellow weather warning for the districts of Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Boudh, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nawarangpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Puri, Khordha, Sonepur, Nuapada, Balangir, Koraput and Malkangiri during the period.
The IMD also forecast heavy rainfall in most parts of the state for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into north Bay of Bengal and along & off Odisha coasts till morning of September 16.
