Cyclone Dana: Odisha CM Urges All MLAs To Coordinate Relief And Rescue Operations

Bhubaneswar, Oct 22: In view of the impending cyclonic storm 'Dana', Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday urged all MLAs to visit their respective constituencies, and coordinate the relief and rescue operations at the ground level.

In a social media post, the Chief Minister said all the MLAs should try their best to stay with the people in their respective constituencies and give them the necessary support during the calamities.

“In view of the possible cyclonic storm (Dana) and heavy rainfall, all the MLAs should be present in their respective constituencies in order to coordinate with the district administration to deal with the storm collectively and expedite relief and rescue operations. All the MLAs should try their best to stay with the people of their respective constituencies and give them the necessary support,” CM Majhi posted on X.

According to the IMD, the severe cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ likely to be formed in the Bay of Bengal on October 23 is very likely to cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island during the night of 24th and early morning 25th October 2024 as a severe Cyclonic Storm with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting 120 kmph.

The IMD predicted that the rainfall activities will start in the coastal areas of the state from October 23 onwards while extremely heavy rainfall will be witnessed in some parts on October 24 and 25.

Around 14 coastal districts of the State are likely to be affected by the impending storm and heavy rainfall, the IMD forecast.
