Bhubaneswar, Sep 15: Three separate road accidents reported from different parts of Odisha left two people dead and several others injured, while a coal-laden trailer overturned in another incident, sources said on Tuesday. The accidents were reported in Kendrapada, Mayurbhanj and Anugola districts, with police initiating investigations into the respective incidents.

Elderly Man Killed In Hit-And-Run In Aali
An 80-year-old man was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle at Singiri Bazaar on the Kataka-Chandbali road in Aali area of Kendrapada district early Tuesday morning.

According to a source, Natabar Mahalik from Raisarpur village under Patrapur panchayat had visited Singiri Bazaar and was returning home when an unidentified vehicle allegedly hit him around 4:30 am. The vehicle fled the spot after the incident, while Mahalik died at the scene.


The incident came to light in the morning, following which locals gathered at the spot. Aali police reached the area and began an investigation.

Family members reportedly kept the body by the roadside for a prolonged period, demanding that the vehicle involved in the accident be traced and seized and compensation be provided.

The incident has triggered resentment among residents in the Singiri area.

Udala Youth Dies After Bike Crashes Into Tree
A young man died after the motorcycle he was riding reportedly lost control and crashed into a tree near Dutikadeipur village under Udala police station limits in Mayurbhanj district.


The deceased was identified as Bikash Dalei from Teldihudi village.

According to the source, Dalei was travelling from Dutikaadeipur towards Khaladi late Monday night when he reportedly lost control of the motorcycle near a bend. The bike went off the road and travelled about 50 metres before hitting a tree.

The impact reportedly broke the tree and severely damaged the motorcycle. Dalei sustained critical injuries, including a severe injury to one of his legs, and died at the spot.

A passer-by spotted the body in the morning and informed the police. Udala police reached the location, recovered the body and seized the damaged motorcycle. An investigation is underway.

Coal-Laden Trailer Overturns In Anugola
Anugola: A coal-laden trailer overturned near Arun Saheed Chhak in Kosala area of Anugola district after reportedly losing control while travelling towards Anugola.

The trailer had been loaded with coal at a private company's mine in Chhendipada and was headed towards Anugola when the accident occurred.


According to another source, the heavy vehicle suddenly lost control and overturned on the road. The driver reportedly escaped with minor injuries.

The accident has once again raised concerns over the movement of coal-laden heavy vehicles along State Highway 63. Local allegations suggest that the frequent movement of such vehicles has contributed to repeated accidents on the route, raising concerns over the safety of other road users.

However, the exact cause of the trailer overturning remains unclear and is expected to be established after the investigation.
