Bhubaneswar, Sep 14: Four separate road accidents were reported from different parts of Odisha, leaving at least three people dead and several others injured, sources said on Monday.

Truck Runs Over Bike In Baleshwar
A man was killed after a container-laden truck allegedly ran over his motorcycle at Remuna Golei in Baleshwar district.

The deceased has been identified as Ranjan Mishra, the younger brother of Kishore Mishra, owner of the Jatra troupe 'Biswa Darbar'.


According to a source, Ranjan was standing by the roadside on his motorcycle when the truck suddenly hit him from behind. He died at the spot, and his body remained trapped under the truck for some time.

The accident triggered tension in the area. Cops from Remuna Police Station reached the spot, brought the situation under control and recovered the body before sending it for post-mortem examination.

Two Killed After Bike Hits Divider In Jatani
In another accident, two youths were killed after the motorcycle they were travelling on reportedly crashed into a road divider at Haribhaina Chhak in Khordha's Jatani area.


The accident occurred around 3am. Both victims were from the Kudiari area of Jatani.

Their bodies were taken to Khordha District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Auto-Rickshaw Overturns In Mayurbhanj
Seven people were injured after an auto-rickshaw overturned at a bend near the Thakurani temple on the Godabhanga Ghat stretch of the Thakurmunda-Anandapur State Highway in Mayurbhanj district.

The accident took place on the route towards Thakurmunda when the vehicle was travelling from Kupari in Baleshwar district. There were seven passengers in the auto-rickshaw besides the driver, according to another source.


Of those injured, three reportedly sustained critical injuries. On being alerted, cops from Mahuldiha Police Station reached the spot and shifted all those travelling in the vehicle to Anandapur Sub-Divisional Hospital in Kendujhar district.

Police have launched an investigation into the accident.

Bike Hits Bull In Kataka
In another late-night mishap, a bull was killed after being hit by a motorcycle at Sompur on the Kataka-Paradip Road under Kishannagar police station in Kataka district.

According to the source, two people were travelling towards Kataka on the motorcycle when it collided with the bull.

The animal died at the spot, while the motorcycle rider sustained critical injuries. Locals rescued the injured rider and shifted him to a hospital for treatment.

Kishannagar police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.
