Road Accident / Two Boys Critically Injured as Speeding Bolero Crashes Into Makeshift House Near Bhubaneswar's Lingipur

Bhubaneswar, Sep 6: Two boys were critically injured after a speeding Mahindra Bolero reportedly crashed into a makeshift house near Dashahara Padia on the Kataka-Puri Bypass road close to Lingipur in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, a source said.

The incident took place around 1 kilometre from Lingipur Square when the Bolero, travelling from Puri towards Kataka, veered off the road and rammed into the roadside shack.

At the time of the accident, a mother and her two sons were inside the makeshift house located beside a scrap warehouse. The family reportedly collected discarded ropes, bottles and other materials and sold them to a scrap dealer.

According to the source, the two brothers had finished eating and were resting inside the house while their mother was standing nearby at around 4:30pm.

The impact left the elder son, aged 19, with serious injuries, including an apparent spinal injury. The younger son, aged 16, was trapped under the vehicle and suffered severe injuries to his chest. He was unable to speak after the crash.

Both injured boys were initially taken to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Kataka for further treatment.

The boys are reportedly residents of West Bengal.

Mother Narrowly Escapes
The crash was severe enough to cause substantial damage to the makeshift structure. The mother reportedly escaped the impact narrowly.

The circumstances leading to the accident are yet to be ascertained. While the Bolero was reportedly travelling at high speed, further details regarding the exact cause of the crash were not immediately available.
