Road Mishap / Passenger Bus Overturns On NH-16 In Jajpur’s Badachana

Jajpur, Aug 30: A passenger bus travelling from Kataka to Baleshwar overturned near Kadhei Chhak under Badachana police station limits on National Highway-16 in Odisha's Jajpur district on Sunday, injuring passengers, a source said.

The private bus 'Sarangi' overturned on the NH at around 12:30pm today, the source informed.

Badachana police reached the spot and launched rescue operations.

NHAI Team Joins Rescue Efforts
An NHAI patrolling and rescue team reached the accident site and helped evacuate the injured passengers.

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Cause Of Accident Unknown
The cause of the accident was not immediately known. Rescue operations were continuing at the spot.

How To Rescue Accident Victims?
If an accident occurs on a national highway in India, rescuers should first ensure their own safety and alert approaching traffic. Park vehicles at a safe distance, switch on hazard lights and use warning triangles, if available. Immediately call 112 for emergency assistance and provide the exact location, highway number, direction of travel and the number of injured people.

Do not move victims unnecessarily, particularly those with suspected head, neck or spinal injuries, unless they face immediate danger such as fire or further collision. Check whether they are breathing and, if trained, provide basic first aid or CPR. Apply gentle pressure to serious external bleeding using a clean cloth or bandage. Do not give injured people food, water or medicines.

If a vehicle has caught fire, keep people away from smoke and flames and wait for trained emergency personnel. Once help arrives, assist police, ambulance crews and highway authorities by providing accurate information about the accident and victims.
