Kendujhar, Sep 3: An Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) bus driver was killed on Thursday after his motorcycle collided head-on with a 16-wheeler truck on National Highway-20 near Balijodi village under the Ghatgaon police station limits in Kendujhar district, a source said.
The deceased was identified as 37-year-old Saroj Kumar Sahoo, a resident of Raj Berahampur area in Baleshwar district. He was working as a driver on an OSRTC bus operating on the Kendujhar-Baleshwar route.
According to the source, Sahoo was on leave on Thursday and was travelling by motorcycle from Kendujhar towards his home in Baleshwar. While he was passing through Bali Jodi on NH-20, his motorcycle collided head-on with a 16-wheeler truck coming from the opposite direction.
The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the motorcycle completely mangled. Sahoo sustained critical injuries in the accident, the source added.

Victim Declared Dead At Ghatgaon Hospital
Following the crash, Sahoo was rescued and taken to Ghatgaon Community Health Centre for treatment. However, doctors examined him and declared him dead.
The incident subsequently came to the attention of Ghatgaon police, who reached the accident site and seized both the truck and the motorcycle.
Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

A similar incident was reported from Kendujhar district about a month ago, when two persons died in a tragic road accident near Singadobh under Anandapur police station limits.
The deceased were identified as Gyan Ranjan Sahoo from Jasobantapur village under Panchugochhia panchayat in Hatadihi block and Bula Behera, wife of Bichitra Behera from Singadobha village under Bancho panchayat.
