Anandapur, Jul 30: Three separate road accidents reported from Kendujhar, Khordha and Sundaragada districts on Thursday claimed two lives and left six others injured.
Two Killed in Anandapur
Two persons died in a tragic road accident near Singadobh under Anandapur police station limits in Kendujhar district, a source said.
The deceased were identified as Gyan Ranjan Sahoo from Jasobantapur village under Panchugochhia panchayat in Hatadihi block and Bula Behera, wife of Bichitra Behera from Singadobha village under Bancho panchayat.
According to the source, Bula Behera was heading towards the river for open defecation when she was hit by Gyan Ranjan's motorcycle. The impact threw the woman onto the road, while Gyan lost control of the two-wheeler and plunged down the river embankment.
Both victims died on the spot.
Gyan Ranjan was serving in the Odisha Police and was posted in Kendujhar district. Anandapur police reached the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them to the sub-divisional hospital for post-mortem examination. An investigation is underway.
Three Injured In Tangi
In another incident, three persons, including an elderly man, sustained serious injuries after two motorcycles collided head-on near Chandeswar Petrol Pump on National Highway-16 under Tangi police station limits in Khordha district.
With the help of locals and police, the injured were rescued and admitted to the Tangi Community Health Centre for treatment.
The critically injured elderly man was identified as Madhab Das from Anladihi village.
Police began an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.

One Dead In Sundaragada Crash
A separate head-on collision between two motorcycles near Demul Chhak under Bargaon police station in Sundaragada district claimed one life and injured three others.
The deceased was identified as Dutiya Gandha (56) from Timna village. The three injured persons are residents of Birimunda village.
They are undergoing treatment at Bargaon Community Health Centre, while police registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
