Cuttack/Bhubaneswar, May 30: A series of road accidents claimed lives and left several injured in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
From Palasuni to Chandrasekharpur and finally Cuttack, the day witnessed multiple mishaps that shocked residents and left families grieving.
In Cuttack’s Jobra area, a young woman lost her life after her electric vehicle was hit by a bus named Sankat Mochan. The collision threw her off balance, causing fatal injuries. Police seized both vehicles and sent the body for post-mortem at SCB Medical College.

Earlier in the day, a major accident occurred at Palasuni flyover. A car carrying two passengers narrowly escaped tragedy after being struck by a speeding truck.

✨Eyewitnesses reported that the truck driver failed to stop after the initial collision, dragging the car along flyover before fleeing. Mancheswar police later intercepted the truck and detained the driver for questioning.
The incident, according to sources, unfolded near Kuakhai bridge around 11 pm Friday night. The car had overtook the truck (Hywa truck) before it was rammed and dragged for several meters. The truck driver attempted to escape. Police chased down the vehicle and detained the driver.
The father-daughter duo inside the car survived but were left traumatized. They have lodged a formal complaint at the police station.
Adding to the grim tally, Chandrasekharpur witnessed a fatal
accident when a car rammed into a bike. One person died on the spot while two
others sustained serious injuries. The car driver fled the scene, and police
have launched a search to trace him.
