Bhubaneswar, Oct 12: In a shocking incident that has stirred public outrage, Durgapur police have arrested three persons in connection with the alleged gang rape of a medical student hailing from Odisha.
The arrests were made following a swift investigation launched after the victim filed a complaint detailing the assault.
The survivor, a medical student from Odisha, is currently undergoing medical treatment and counseling. Her condition is reported to be stable.
According to reports, a second-year student from Jaleswar in Odisha was allegedly gang-raped outside a private medical college in West Burdwan district's Durgapur on Friday night.
She along with her friend had left the college premises to eat outside.

✨In the complaint, it is alleged that the miscreants chased the victim and her friend and later started harassing them. While the victim's friend managed to escape from the spot, she was dragged to a nearby forest where the miscreants outraged her modesty.
Earlier on Saturday, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reached out to the father of the victim, offering full support and assistance to the family during this traumatic time.
In a compassionate gesture, CM Majhi personally spoke to the victim’s father over the phone, expressing solidarity and assuring that the Odisha government would extend all possible help — both legal and logistical — to ensure justice is served. He also directed senior officials to remain in close touch with the family and coordinate with West Bengal authorities for a swift and transparent investigation.
