Berhampur, Nov 12: The Odisha Police have sent two seized 9mm pistols, linked to the high-profile murder case of advocate Pitabash Panda, for ballistic testing to the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) in Bhubaneswar.

These firearms were recovered from the accused during the investigation and are expected to provide crucial insights into the trajectory and origin of the bullets used in the crime.

So far, 16 individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. Among them are former BJD MLA Bikram Panda, ex-mayor Siba Shankar Das, corporator Malaya Bishoyi, BJD leader Madan Dalai, and Bikram’s associate Sunil Hota. Police submitted details of the seized weapons to the SDJM Court, which is overseeing the case.

Meanwhile, the court has granted permission for Sunil Hota to be shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for treatment, following a petition filed by his lawyers Rashmita Das and Chakrapani Nahak. Hota is reportedly suffering from throat-related complications requiring medical attention.

In a separate development, Bikram Panda and Malaya Bishoyi had earlier filed a petition seeking permission to receive home-cooked meals in jail. SDJM Kumar Spandan approved the request, directing jail authorities to provide them with necessary dietary arrangements inside the prison.

A recent health check-up conducted by jail authorities confirmed that both individuals are in stable condition and do not currently require external medical intervention.

The case continues to draw public attention due to the involvement of several high-profile political figures. Investigations are ongoing, and further revelations are expected once the ballistic reports are received.
