Balangir, Nov 18: Popular Odia singer Humane Sagar was laid to rest in his native village, Deng, near Titlagarh, Tuesday afternoon. The final rites were attended by family, friends, and members of the Odia film and music fraternity.

The singer, 36, passed away at 9:08 pm on Monday at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where he had been undergoing intensive treatment. According to hospital authorities, he was admitted to the emergency department on October 14 in a critical state and was later moved to the Medical ICU.

Doctors at AIIMS stated he was suffering from multi-organ dysfunction syndrome, acute-on-chronic liver failure, bilateral pneumonia, and dilated cardiomyopathy with severe left ventricular systolic dysfunction. He was placed on advanced life-support systems but succumbed to his ailments after a 72-hour battle.

After the completion of medical and legal formalities, his mortal remains were taken to his residence in Cuttack around midnight, where a large number of admirers gathered to pay their last respects. Afterwards, the body was taken to his hometown, Titlagarh, for the final journey.

Born on November 25, 1990, in Titilagarh, Balangir district, Humane Sagar came from a musically gifted family. He trained in Hindustani classical and Odia folk music from a young age.

He rose to fame after winning the reality show 'Voice of Odisha Season 2' in 2012 and made his playback singing debut in 2015. He went on to lend his voice to over 50 films and more than 100 albums.
