Bhubaneswar, Nov 6: Winter chill is beginning to set in across Odisha, with mercury levels dipping steadily in several regions.
According to the latest reports, the lowest temperature was recorded in Phulbani at 13°C, followed by Daringbadi at 15°C. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack registered 18.5°C and 18.6°C respectively.
Compared to the previous day, Bhubaneswar saw a rise of
1.5°C and Cuttack by 1°C. However, interior and hilly regions of the state are
witnessing a sharper decline in temperatures, indicating the onset of winter. Meteorological
experts attribute the drop to the influence of northerly winds and reduced
moisture content in the atmosphere.

The cold wave is expected to intensify over the next 48 hours, with temperatures likely to fall further by November 9. In some hilly areas, the mercury could dip as low as 10°C.

Forecasts suggest that Bhubaneswar and Cuttack may experience temperatures around 16°C in the next 72 hours, marking a significant shift from the mild conditions observed earlier this week.
The changing weather pattern is also expected to impact daily routines, prompting increased demand for warm clothing and seasonal produce.
The state’s meteorological department continues to monitor
the situation and will issue further updates as the cold intensifies.
