Bhubaneswar, Nov 14: A BJP delegation in Odisha on Friday lodged two separate written complaints at the Bhubaneswar Cyber Police Station here against BJD leader Manmath Rautaray and social activist Sandeep Singh for allegedly making derogatory, misleading, and indecent remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
BJP Leaders Demand Strict Action
State BJP Vice President Dr. Jatin Mahanty informed that Singh had posted false allegations against the Prime Minister on his social media handle “X,” which he described as a punishable offense under cyber law. Similarly, Rautaray was accused of using abusive language against both leaders during the Nuapada by-election campaign. A video of the remarks was first uploaded on Facebook and later circulated widely.
Cyber Law Invocation
Dr. Mahanty emphasized that misuse of social media to insult
national and state leaders constitutes a serious violation of cyber law. He
demanded strict legal action and immediate arrest of both individuals. “Such
acts are not only indecent but also criminal in nature,” he said.

✨Delegation Submits Complaints
A BJP delegation including senior leader Mahesh Mahanty, state media coordinator Sujit Kumar Das, legal cell coordinator Jayant Jena, and social media coordinator Umakant Pattnayak accompanied Dr. Mahanty to submit the complaints. The party reiterated its stance that cyber law provisions must be enforced to deter similar incidents in the future.
