Bhubaneswar, Sep 15: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for several districts in Odisha, forecasting heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours.

The weather agency has also predicted continued showers for up to three days due to the influence of a trough line and associated weather systems.

According to the IMD's latest update, heavy to moderate rainfall is expected in northern and coastal Odisha, particularly in the districts of Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Balasore, which have been placed under a yellow alert.

Moreover, 20 districts across coastal and northern interior Odisha are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall tomorrow, read the bulletin.

While many areas have already received light to moderate showers, three locations have recorded heavy rainfall. The highest has been reported in Rajnagar, Kendrapada, with 93 mm of rainfall.

The IMD has advised residents and local authorities to remain vigilant, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Farmers, fishermen, and travellers are urged to take necessary precautions as the weather system continues to evolve.
