Baripada, Nov 24: The dismembered body of a man was recovered from the railway tracks at Gorumahisani village in Mayurbhanj district on the Tata-Badampahar line under the Chakradharpur Division of South Eastern Railway on Monday, a source said.
The cause of death remains unclear.
The deceased has been identified as Thakur Majhi, son of Gudu Majhi, a resident of Bagdega village under Badampahar police station in Mayurbhanj district.
According to the source, the man worked as a driver and had recently returned home. On the day of the incident, he reportedly lay down on the railway tracks at his village as the Tata-Badampahad second MEMU train approached at high speed, resulting in fatal injuries.

The loco pilot attempted to apply emergency brakes, but could not prevent the collision. The impact left the body in two pieces at the spot.
Though the incident occurred under Badampahar police jurisdiction, GRP personnel from Balasore -- around 200 km away from the spot -- would reach the scene to recover the body from the tracks for further investigation.
