Argus News - Major Fire Breaks Out at SCB Medical College & Hospital In Cuttack: 10 Killed

Cuttack, Mar 16: At least 10 persons were killed while several other sustained injuries after a major fire broke out at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Monday.

According to reports, the mishap took place at around 3 AM at the ICU of the Trauma Care department of the hospital, where critically ill patients were being treated.

Following the incident, fire service personnel rushed to the hospital and doused the fire. The fire service officials, along with hospital staff and police, along with patients’ attendants, rescued the patients and shifted them to other departments of the SCB hospital.

Soon Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, along with Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, reached the hospital and reviewed the situation. He also visited the patients, who are under treatment at the facility.

The chief minister has announced Rs 25 lakh ex-gratia for the next of kin of each deceased person.
