Rayagada, Oct 15: A tragic incident unfolded in Bhataguda village under Bisamkatak police limits, where a construction worker was killed while another sustained critical injuries after being attacked by a co-worker.

According to reports, a group of young men from Lanjigarh area had arrived in Bhataguda for a construction project of a water tank.

The incident took place late last night when Kunal, who was in a intoxicated state, attacked Dilip Lahara and Lalit Majhi with an axe while they were asleep. Following the attack, Dilip died on the spot while Lalit was critically injured.

On being informed about the incident, police rushed to scene and rescued the victim to the nearby hospital.

Lalit is reportedly undergoing treatment at Bishamakatak Medical Center.

On the other hand, the accused, Kunal, has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the attack.
