Bhubaneswar/Cuttack, Feb 25: Odisha Vigilance officials have unearthed over Rs 4 crore in cash during a raid at the residence of Debabrata Mohanty, Deputy Director of Mines, Cuttack Circle. The raid was conducted at his residence following his arrest for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a licensed coal vendor.
Simultaneous searches were carried out at Mohanty’s residential flat in Bhubaneswar, his parental house in Bhadrak, and his office chamber in Cuttack.
During the ongoing raid at his Bhubaneswar flat (Flat No. 302, Nature’s Crest Apartment, Shree Vihar, Patia), Vigilance unearthed over Rs 4 crore in cash, concealed in trolley bags and almirahs. Officials confirmed that counting is still in progress to ascertain the exact amount.
This marks the highest-ever cash seizure in Odisha Vigilance history. Additionally, Rs 1.20 lakh was recovered from Mohanty’s office drawer.

- A palatial double-storeyed building of approximately 2400 sq ft at Pahala, Bhubaneswar.
