Argus News - False Marriage Promise Lands Youth In Police Custody

Bhubaneswar, Dec 2: Police on Tuesday arrested a youth for allegedly cheating a woman after having physical relations with her under the pretext of marriage.

The accused, identified as Anil Nayak, was taken into custody by Saheed Nagar police following a complaint lodged by the victim at Bharatpur police station.

According to reports, the victim had been in a relationship with the accused since 2023. He allegedly promised marriage and engaged in repeated physical relations with her. In 2024, when the woman became pregnant, Anil forced her to undergo an abortion. After the abortion, he reportedly distanced himself and stopped maintaining contact with her.

Feeling cheated, the woman filed a formal complaint at Bharatpur police station.

Acting on the complaint,  Saheednagar police arrested Anil and later handed him to Bharatpur police for further investigation.

Authorities have stated that the matter will be thoroughly investigated, and legal action will follow based on evidence and testimony.
