Cyclone Montha: Danger Signal Hoisted At Paradip Port

Key Points

The alert comes as Cyclone Montha continues to intensify over the Bay of Bengal, prompting ports along the Odisha coast to initiate safety protocols.
Paradip, Oct 26: In anticipation of a possible cyclonic storm, Paradip Port authorities have issued Danger Signal No. 1, signaling early caution for approaching weather disturbances.

The alert comes as Cyclone Montha continues to intensify over the Bay of Bengal, prompting ports along the Odisha coast to initiate safety protocols.

While Signal No. 1 indicates the presence of a potential threat, it is primarily a preparatory measure advising port operations and vessels to stay alert.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Cyclone Montha is expected to make landfall on the coast of Andhra Pradesh in the evening or night of October 28, with wind speeds touching 90-100 km/hour.
