Complaint Filed Against Humane Sagar's Manager in Cuttack For Abusing Singer's Mother

Key Points

  • Complaint filed against singer Humane Sagar’s manager for allegedly abusing the singer’s mother.
  • Viral video triggers demand for strict legal action; complaint filed at Cuttack Mahila Police Station.
  • Comes amid a separate FIR in Balangir and new medical details on Sagar’s health before his death.
Cuttack, Nov 29: Trouble deepened on Saturday for Dinesh Behera, manager of late Odia playback singer Humane Sagar, after State Human Rights Council filed a complaint against him at Mahila Police Station in Cuttack.

The complaint alleges that Dinesh used abusive and derogatory language towards Sagar’s mother. A video purportedly showing him verbally abusing her has gone viral on social media, prompting the council to seek strong legal action.

The rights panel said the behaviour amounted to humiliation and intimidation of a woman and urged the police to initiate strict proceedings under relevant sections of law.

This comes days after police registered a separate FIR at Balangir Town Police Station against Dinesh and another manager, Prashant Behera, following public demands for a thorough probe into the singer’s death.

Sagar, 36, died on November 17 at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, triggering an outpouring of grief across Odisha. He had been under treatment for liver cirrhosis, along with pneumonia and dilated cardiomyopathy.

In a significant statement on November 23, treating doctor Dr Sanjib Kumar Kar had said he repeatedly advised Sagar to take medication and rest, and specifically asked him to avoid public programmes for at least 15 days. “I had warned him that losing him would be deeply painful for me. But he continued his scheduled performances,” Dr Kar stated.

In describing a key concern, Dr Kar had said that for nearly a year, Sagar’s staff members — not his parents or other immediate family — brought him for treatment. “Only on the 12th, when his condition had become serious, did his mother come to the hospital,” he added.

According to him, while alcohol-related liver disease was the underlying condition, Sagar ultimately died due to a combination of pneumonia, dilated cardiomyopathy and renal failure.
